The Worship & Music Ministry of First Baptist Church seeks to encourage and equip believers of all ages to worship and serve God through music. Our worship services utilize a balance and variety of traditional hymns and contemporary praise & worship music accompanied by a growing praise band/orchestra, praise singers, and choir.
The Sanctuary Choir rehearses Wednesdays from 7:15-8:30pm in the Music Suite. The choir ministers through a variety of music during Sunday morning services and presents special seasonal programs. No audition or musical experience is necessary - just a heart to worship and a willingness to serve!
The Worship Orchestra accompanies congregational worship on Sunday mornings, occasionally accompanies the Sanctuary Choir and other musical groups, and plays special orchestra-only selections several times a year. We rehearse Sundays from 8:00-9:00am before the Sunday school hour. Additional instrumentalists are always needed and welcome! If you play at a high school band level or better (even if it has been high school since you played!) talk to Andrew about getting involved. All instruments from guitars & drums to traditional band & orchestral instruments are welcome.
Lifeline Youth Choir sings weekly during our evening service and rehearses each Sunday at 4:30pm in the music suite. A free snack supper is served at 5:30pm before the choir goes to the evening service. Continuing a 20+ year tradition, Lifeline takes a week-long tour & ministry trip every July at no cost to students who are faithful to rehearsals throughout the year.
Children’s Choirs meet Wednesdays on the second floor of the education building from 5:30-6:30pm. They have a great time of singing and worship involving both spiritual and musical education. The children's choirs sing in worship services several times throughout the year. Choirs include: Merry Makers (age 4-Kindergarten), Music Makers (Grades 1-3), and Young Musicians (Grades 4-6). Our Young Musicians Choir takes a weekend “mini-tour” toward the end of each school year!
The Handbell Ensemble meets Tuesdays from 6:00 - 7:30 pm during the school year and plays in worship on a regular basis. Previous ringing experience is not needed but basic music reading skill is required.
The Technical Ministries Team supports the worship life of First Baptist Church through sound, video projection, media, and video recording ministries. Experience is helpful, but not required. Continuing training is available for those interested in serving.
If you have questions or are interested in being a part of any of these groups, please contact Andrew Heathershaw, our Associate Pastor/Minister of Music at email@example.com or 850-682-2544. We would love for you to be a part of what God is doing!
