Other Ministries
Loving and Serving is a two-part vision of our purpose in the Sunday School and Discipleship ministries of First Baptist Church. The Sunday School and other program ministry leadership teams agree that to bring honor and blessing to the Lord requires our first love and service be offered unto the Lord. It is our desire to express our love for the Lord as we love others... and serve others as we serve Him. Every believer has a unique love and service relationship with the Father of Heaven. As we love and serve Him, we will accordingly love and serve others.
Loving
Loving the Lord
You shall love the Lord your God with all of
your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
Deuteronomy 6:4
Loving Believers
A new commandment I give to you, that you love
one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this
all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.
John 13:34-35
Loving the Lost
What do you think? If any man has a hundred
sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on
the mountains and go and search for the one that is straying? If it turns out
that he finds it, truly I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the
ninety-nine which have not gone astray. So it is not the will of your Father
who is in heaven that one of these little ones perish.
Matthew 18:12-14
Serving
Serving the Lord
Serve the Lord with gladness... Therefore, since
we have a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we
may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe... what does the
Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His
ways, to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all
your soul.
Psalm 100:2, Hebrews 12:28, Deuteronomy 10:12
Serving Believers
Bear one another's burdens, and thereby fulfill
the law of Christ. So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all
people, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
Galatians 6:2,10
Serving the Lost
For though I am free from all men, I have made
myself a slave to all, so that I may win more. To the weak, I became weak,
that I might win the weak; I have become all things to all men, so that I may
by all means save some.
1 Corinthians 9:19, 22
